anesthetic? i am afriad to be under general anesthetic cause this makes the patient lose consiciousness. What is your opinion? Should i have a epidural (local anesthetic or general)

general u will b ok just ask them that when ur put in the recovery room to plz place a wet towel on ur forehead it will help with the nausia. its ok trust me I been thru alot of surgeries n got more to go. no epidural they wont do that anyways. it has nothing to do with a hysterectomy anyways

Mam, that very question needs to be discussed with the doctor(s) who will be performing the surgery.

Since you have 48 hours to go before the surgery actually takes place, consult your doctor immediately, and let him/her know your concerns & anxieties.

He/she can talk with the anesthesiologist about which anesthetic is right for you.

Do not, I repeat do not be afraid of voicing your concerns.

I can't imagine why you would be asking that question on the Internet. That's definitely something you need to speak with your doctor and/or the anesthesiologist about. Some people can't tolerate certain types of anesthesia and sometimes the amount of work the surgeon needs to do is such that a local just won't cut it. Only he/she knows exactly what needs to be done and about how long it's going to take.

It's kind of up to the doctor and anesthesiologist as to what they use. Most docs have their own protocol. General is the most dangerous, but it may not be up to you.
