Default hysterectomy question.....?

can a hysterectomy be done with laparoscopic surgery or do they actually have to open you up to do it?

I have severe endometriosis and am asking for a hysterectomy after having my baby, I am due in 3 weeks. If the doctors agree to the hysto would they most likely plan an induction so that they can have the surgeons ready? I have already lost my right ovary and fallopian tube to the scarring from endo and it is just a matter of time before I lose everything else, since i am on my 4th child I think it's wise to do it sooner instead of later.

I will be talking to my doctor as well on Thursday of this week, but just wanted to hear something from some ladies who may have had it done beforehand.

They have started doing some of them with laparoscopy. If I'm not mistaken they can go in through the vagina with one external incision (about an inch wide) on your abdomen.
