Default I've had 4 miscarriages and can't do this anymore. What are the effects of a

hysterectomy at 22? I've been married for nearly 5 years and have experienced 4 miscarriages, we don't have any children but are considering adoption and foster parenting. Each time I have my period it's a painful reminder of my losses. I don't want to take medication to stop them, I'd rather just have the surgery and move on with my life. I've given it a lot of thought and spoken in depth with my husband. Any advice or information hysterectemies at 22 years old?

I'm no doctor, so I can't really answer your question, but I am sorry about all of your miscarriages.

I can imagine that you are very upset about the miscarriages, but a hysterectomy, in my estimation, is NOT a viable solution for you. I've had 2 miscarriages myself, also 2 years of trying to conceive without any luck. I have 3 kids now. Stick in there! I know it is hard- but there are other medical alternatives to something as radical as a hysterectomy!

Usually you have to a serious medical reason for a hysterctomy and if you want your tubes tied you have to have at least two kids and I think they raised the age to 24. I think it would be a huge mistake to consider making. Let me give you some hope... I am 26 married and have 5 kids... we have been pregnant 9 times... know what that means I lost 4 babies one at 21 weeks so dont give up hope

I'm not a psychologist but I think that having a hysterectomy would be a huge mistake! I can't imagine how horrible and painful your miscarriages have been but a hysterectomy is a MAJOR surgery. My mom had a partial hysterectomy at the age of 32 because of fibroid tumors and she was a mess! Aside from being a hormonal nutcase, she went through early menopause after the surgery, and then a few years ago she went through menopause again because she still had one ovary. She was crying all the time, extremely moody, and she would get hot flashes all the time, she said it was awful...and what made it even worse was that she had to go through it twice.

I really hope you will reconsider the surgery, it's a major and permanent surgery. You're still so young and there's a good chance that you could still get pregnant. I don't think the surgery will solve your problems. You've suffered 4 great losses, and I think that you may need to see a counselor to talk through your grief.

Good Luck, I really hope things work out for you, and I'll be sure to say a prayer for you tonight

Don't get a hysterectomy..i got an endometrial ablation....when the doctor goes in vaginally and zaps the lining of your uterus...you either never get a period again (like me) or u may get very light light ones like my friend, she had it done too. it was such an easy procedure and I was fine by that afternoon other than being groggy from the anesthetic. Its a quick procedure too...45 min. you can't have kids again though so u need to be really sure about it.
