Default Depression After Hysterectomy?

My mom just had a hysterectomy, she is 60. She was doing well, the only problem was her leg, they think they oulled a muscle during her surgery, but she was doing better. Then, all of a sudden she started being depressed, and crying for no reason. She is so sad, and I am 14 and hate to see her lke that. I want to know if this is normal, and what I can do to help?

It's all about hormones. The female organs (ovaries etc) produce estrogen which helps regulate hormones. When you no longer have them your hormones are all out of wack. She need to see her doctor for hormone management.

It is normal for her to have some mood changes. The hysterectomy is causing her to have hormonal changes, which regulate the mood. Time should help to adjust the body and mind to the change. Until then, there's not too much you can do, except be there for her, spend some time with her and help her around the house and such. You sound like a great kid and she is lucky to have you care. Let her know that you do. If she isn't feeling better in a week, tell her how worried you are and suggest that she call her doctor and discuss her feelings with him/her.

I would imagine I would feel very depressed after a hysterectomy. Try to cheer her up and if that doesn't work, tell her to talk to her Doctor.
