Default im having hysterectomy at 35. do i need hormones?

No, a hysterectomy only removes the uterus, and leaves behind the ovaries, which are responsible for producing the hormones. Of course you will no longer have a period, but your body will still go through the monthly fluctuation of hormones as it did before. Many women are surprised about this, that they still have the symptoms of PMS (mostly emotional) minus the cramping & bleeding.Hope that helps! Best wishes and good luck

I would discuss this with your Dr. but my opinion is not to take the hormones. The incidence of breast cancer is very high taking replacement hormones. I take black Co hash and my Dr. just prescribed Gabapentin which seems to work great. It is not a hormone but seems to really help with the hot flashes and mood swings. Just be prepared to gain weight around your middle. I have never had a tummy and it developed in just a few months. Very upsetting for me. (looking at your other response) This is only if you are having a complete hysterectomy , overies and all.
