Default Hysterectomy at 28???

I have been experiencing "female problems" since I was 18. My husband & I have 2 children together & wanted another baby. However, last month we miscarried at 7 weeks. This was my 3rd diagnosed miscarriage. I also have Endometriosis and recurrent ovarian cysts. I experience painful, debilitating periods and sometimes intercourse is painful.
Would it be wise to say "to hell with it" and go ahead & have a hysterectomy? My gyno Doc mentioned it several years ago. I am just worried that I will regret it... really want another baby, but I know it's not gonna happen. I had many complications with the 2 children I have now, they are truly my miracles & am thankful. BUT... at the same time I can't help but wonder, what if? You know???
Anyone out there been through this at a young age? If so, please help me.
I have had 2 other doctors say the same thing... I also have a VERY hard time getting pregnant & staying pregnant. I know the wanting another baby is out the window...
I guess what I am trying to do is convince myself it's ok to go ahead with this. My husband hates to see me in this pain all the time. It's so hard on me as a mom to deal with the everyday stuff and this on top of it. I know I am ready... just have to talk myself into it. That's what I am having a hard time doing.

Unfortunately my mom had one at 26 years of age...and I fear I am on the same path, as I've been having female troubles since 16. You need to do what is best to protect your health... Just feel blessed that you already have 2 little miracles waiting on you! Good Luck, and I'm sorry.

I was 33 when I had my hysterectomy, but I had an oopharectomy which is taking the ovaries too. I have 3 grown boys. My mother, aunt and grandmother died of ovarian cancer. My mother's oncologist suggested I have everything removed when I finish my family. For me it has been the best precautionary move. I receive hormone pellets every 5 months and to be honest I feel so much better than I did before the surgery. I am now 45.

Hi..

If the doctor leaves your one ovary intact, no you will not experience menopause. However, if the ovary is taken out as well, you will experience surgically induced menopause to some degree. Everyone is different. Some people need hormone replacement therapy, some do not. There isn't really anyway to determine how much of an effect it will have on you. I've had two aunts go through surgical menopause: one never even noticed the change, the other thought she was "going to die", ie, hot flashes, mood swings, etc.

As for being painful, I assume you mean the surgery itself. Yes, there is pain involved. There are different surgical techniques used, but they all will include some pain. You'll be given IV pain medication while in the hospital, then switched to an oral form. You'll probably go home with a prescription for pain medication. There is a wealth of info here: http://women.webmd.com/tc/Hysterectomy-T...

I doubt that the symptoms will return, your body has already adjusted to the change in hormones. You don't mention if you had your ovaries removed but with the symptoms you have already mentioned you had I would assume that you have. Menopause is a change in all types of hormones, due to the drop in estrogen and progesterone, and the bodies natural aging process....
