I recently had a baby and experienced a rare amniotic fluid embolism. I had an emergency c-section for other reasons and developed DIC during surgery and was placed in ICU for 2 days to receive blood. The drs think it was AFE that caused it and aren't sure if it occurred during labor or during surgery. Baby and I are doing fine after we both had a tough time. I am trying to find out if a second pregnancy is safe. There is so little info about AFE out there due to its rarity. I have never known anyone who experienced this but would like to know if there are people who have had a second pregnancy and did not have this complication. Any help/advice is appreciated.
