This is sometimes referred to as dysplasia. It means that atypical (not typical) cells are found on a PAP smear. Colposcopy or a LEEP procedure is usually what is used to take a biopsy, and by the way is curative. This is a common procedure and by virtue of the fact that it was found when it was, on the surface of the cervix, means that it is a minor infection and should be easily fixed. This should in no way affect your ability to have children or require that you take any special precautions regarding child-bearing.The source of cervical dysplasia is the Human Papilloma Virus which is passed from human to human sexually.
