I'm a journalism student working on a article about uterine fibroids and would love to have some of you share your stories with me if possible.

At 23 I under went a myomectomy to remove a fibroid that was 8 cm and also an ovary that was covered my a cyst (which was 9cm). After the surgery I was of school and work for two months.I did have another fibroid that appeared but luckily it disappeared on its own. Now nearly two years later, I've become really interested in women's health specifically regarding fibroids and cysts.

The only thing to do is watch them. There's no way to predict how fast they will grow.

Many, many women have fibroids that never need treatment. Just wait and see whether yours give you problems. If you take hormonal birth control, talk to your gyno about whether you should stop. They can make fibroids grow faster (not always, though)....
