Default PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome)......?

I have recently been diagnosed with PCOS (age 31) I would love to hear from anyone who has it and (or) knows something about it, such as what type of diet is best, or anything for that matter.

PCOS can make you insulin resistant. A visit with a nutritionist/dietitian can give you the best advice on your dietary needs. I do know that it can cause infertility.....

Glad you asked that. I also am 31 and was told I probably have it, but could not afford the test to see for sure. I also had elevated blood sugars and was put on glucophage, which I am finding out is prescribed for pcos also. They say that you would not be able to lose weight without this med if you have pcos. I lost 20 lbs in 1mo. after taking the med. And also have had heavier periods since.

Hello, I'm 21 and was diagnosed last year. My sister also has it. I'm trying to have a baby, but the clomid did not work for us so we are suppose to go to the specialist to start injections. With PCOS it is extremely hard to conceive. As my OBG/YN told me it's like a pearl necklace. Your ovaries have cysts all around them. With PCOS you are insulin resistant and most of the time are type 2 diabetic. You can control this, by being on Metformin. Hope I helped

I am 23 and I have PCOD. My best advice is GO RUN FAST to see a specialist! Thy know more about this than your typical ob/gyn! My ob/gyn put me on the depo shot. That was the worst thing to be put on! It increases the PCOD/PCOS! Did they do blood work to really confirm this? If not you might think of a second opinion! You must have a blood test to confirm it! I know alot and can go on for days about it supabonbon01@yahoo.com e-mail me and I can answer more questions!
