Default PCOS?? women only please....?

ive just had a scan and been told i have PCOS, waiting to get appointment with gp to discuss it all... what are my chances of having kids with this... i really want kids an am afraid i wont be able to, especially if i have to plan them as theres never a right time to plan them.
the only way its affecting me is with excess weight, i dont have the hair or anything like that...
anyone who has this, and can shed some light on this for me would be much appreichiated, as im quite scared about it all...
is it treatable? if so how?
my sister has it bad, an theyve put her on Diannette, which is a contraceptive pill, but i dont want that as i wanna start trying for kids... how else can it be treated??

Although fertility is often reduced with PCOS you can still become pregnant. The chance of becoming pregnant depends on how often you ovulate. Some women with PCOS ovulate now and then, others not at all. If you do not ovulate but want to become pregnant, then fertility treatments have a high chance of success. The common treatment is with a drug called clomiphene. This works by causing ovulation. Other fertility treatments may be tried if clomiphene does not work.
Treatments do vary although Dianette is one of the commoner ones. Metformin (an anti-diabetic drug) is another commonly used treatment. Don't be scared there is help there for your condition.
There is an organisation for women who are affected by PCOS and they are a good source of information, support and advice. You can contact them on:
www.verity-pcos.org.uk
Good luck and take care.

i have PCOS too, and find it really difficult to maintain a healthy weight... i'm similar to u - i don't really have any of the other symptoms, well, my periods are a bit erratic, but that's it.

i found that it really made a difference when i kept my weight down, and got plenty of exercise. i was never given any other medication or advice other than to eat healthily, exercise, and keep my weight down. i guess i was lucky in so much as it only took 2 years for me to conceive.

i am now mum to a 5 year old son, so it is possible to have a happy ending, even with PCOS. good luck. x

I was diagnosed with PCOs at the weekend, my only symptoms are irregular periods from not ovulating and cysts, my weight is fine etc. i was wondering the same as you about having kids as i really want to try too but without a boyfriend its going to be quite hard lol. i have an appointment with my dr tomorrow about it and they are going to put me on the pill to try and balance my hormones again. they have meds which can help you if you want to try for a baby now, if you have already been trying and not getting anywhere then they might prescribe clomid. it can be treated but it cant be cured, its one of those things we have to suffer with for the rest of our life unfortunetely. i will see what i can find out from my dr and let you know tomorrow. good luck.

Hi, I also been diagnosed with PCOS as well...
But I found amazing book (Natural Ovarian Cysts Relief Secrets).

I have been on your system for six weeks and not only did the pain had completely vanished, I lost some decent weight, many of the familiar PCOS symptoms started to fade away and the ultrasound I took yesterday shows that my cyst had shrunk so dramatically, it's simply remarkable. I feel so alive and in control for the first time in my life!!!
hope this ebook can help you...
