Parathyroxin or Parathyroid hormone, a hormone released by Parathyroid glands, has a function with the calcium regulation. It takes up calcium from the bones, kidneys and the gut, and increases its levels in the blood. Osteoporosis is a disorder that usually comes with age, though there may be other causes which can make it occur at any age. The bones become more fragile and easy to break. With age in women, the most important factor to contribute is lack of oestrogens. But, like I said, there are other rare causes. And one of many of these rare causes is Hyperparathyroidism, that is, excess of Parathyroid Hormone. Since it takes up calcium from the bones, its excess makes bone "de-mineralised" and as a result, fragile.
